Terms of use · version 1.0 · effective August 24, 2026
Clear boundaries protect better judgment.
These terms explain what Brake Your Limit provides, what remains your responsibility, and how its materials and member tools may be used.
Who these terms cover.
Brake Your Limit is operated by Ian Brake.
These terms apply to brakeyourlimit.com, Decision Lab member tools, Decision Radar, Decision Discovery, Experience Records, Decision Councils, Strategy Chamber, Play This Out, resources, emails and related services operated by Brake Your Limit.
Community participation may also be governed by the current Decision Lab Membership Agreement, Anonymous Participation Standards, purchase terms and Skool’s own terms. Offer-specific terms control where they state something different. Nothing in these terms removes a consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
By using the website or member tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
Reflection, not professional advice.
Decision Lab helps people examine decisions. It does not make decisions for them.
Brake Your Limit provides educational material, structured reflection, facilitated examination and peer discussion. It does not provide crisis care, emergency response, medical care, diagnosis, mental-health treatment, legal representation, financial advice, tax advice, accounting advice, employment advice, investment advice or another regulated professional service.
Using a tool, attending a session or participating in a discussion does not create a medical, therapeutic, legal, fiduciary, financial or other professional advisory relationship. When a decision involves health, safety, abuse, legal deadlines, employment consequences, regulated duties or material financial risk, seek an appropriately qualified professional in the relevant jurisdiction.
Community contributions express their authors’ perspectives. They are not verified professional advice. Examples, outcomes and testimonials do not promise the same result for anyone else.
Not an emergency service.
Decision Lab entries, posts and emails are not continuously monitored for emergencies.
If you or someone else cannot stay safe, contact the local emergency service or go to the nearest emergency department now. Ask a trusted person who can be physically present to help where appropriate.
United Kingdom: call 999 or go to A&E for immediate danger. In England, NHS 111 also provides an urgent mental-health route.
United States: call or text 988 for suicide or crisis support; call 911 for immediate danger.
Canada: call or text 9-8-8 for suicide or crisis support; call 9-1-1 for immediate danger.
Elsewhere: use the emergency or crisis service available where you are located. These examples were checked in August 2026 and are not an exhaustive international directory.
Your decisions and information.
The choice and its consequences remain yours.
You are responsible for deciding whether a tool, discussion or contribution is appropriate for your situation; checking material facts; obtaining professional advice where needed; and choosing and carrying out any action.
Do not submit information you do not have the right to share. Remove unnecessary names, workplaces, case details, client information, health information and identifying facts. Do not use Decision Lab to plan, request, encourage or justify unlawful, deceptive, abusive, discriminatory, retaliatory or unsafe action.
Nothing entered into a Decision Lab tool is posted to Skool automatically. Follow the interface instructions when you choose to copy an output to the community.
Brake Your Limit materials.
The frameworks and tools are licensed for use, not transferred.
Unless stated otherwise, Brake Your Limit owns or licenses the website copy, software, questions, frameworks, templates, graphics, recordings, learning materials, generated formats and other materials it provides. Copyright and other intellectual-property rights remain with their respective owners.
A valid membership or purchase gives you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the relevant materials for your own learning, reflection and decision-making. You may download or print materials where that function is provided and keep legitimately downloaded copies for personal reference after access ends.
You may not copy, redistribute, publish, resell, sublicense, share outside the permitted membership or organisation, remove ownership notices, create a competing resource from the materials, or use them in another course, community, book, website, AI product, model-training dataset or commercial product without prior written permission. You may not scrape, systematically extract or use automated requests to collect protected content.
Your contributions.
Your decisions, posts, comments and personal experiences remain yours.
You give Brake Your Limit a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, format, display, transmit and moderate your contributions as reasonably needed to provide, protect and administer the service and exercise choices you make.
When you add a decision to Radar or save a linked outcome, this licence also allows Brake Your Limit to display, format, excerpt and distribute the limited Radar and outcome fields described below in Decision Lab Signal. It does not extend to your profile name, assigned profile name, email address, private Experience Record answers, administrative information or the complete community discussion.
Research, attributed quotation and case-study uses are requested separately where applicable. You remain responsible for your contribution and for having permission to include information about another person.
Decision Lab Signal.
Signal shows real activity from inside Decision Lab without including member identity or private records.
Selected Radar decisions and linked outcomes may appear in Decision Lab Signal emails sent to members and subscribers. A Signal card may include the decision or outcome title, decision type, status, deadline, requested perspective, transferable insight and a link to the related discussion.
Signal does not include the member’s profile name, assigned profile name, email address, private Experience Record answers, administrative information or complete Skool discussion. Discussion links continue to require the appropriate Decision Lab access.
The shared wording comes from members and reflects their experiences and views; it is not professional advice from Brake Your Limit. Write titles and shared summaries with the same care you use for a Skool post, leaving out names, confidential details and information about another person that is not needed to understand the decision.
Member and organisational access.
Access belongs to the authorised person or group.
Do not share access codes, protected links, downloaded materials or member content outside the access granted to you. An organisation-sponsored licence does not automatically give an employer, franchisor, team leader or sponsor access to an individual participant’s private answers. Any organisational reporting or controlled sharing must be described separately before it occurs.
Anonymous participation protects identity from other members, not from authorised moderation. It does not remove responsibility or permit impersonation, harassment, investigation of another anonymous participant or side-channel contact.
Availability and third parties.
Digital services change and no online environment is risk-free.
Features, schedules, tools and access arrangements may change. Brake Your Limit does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent preservation of drafts, or that a third-party service will remain unchanged.
Skool, payment processors, Google, Resend and other providers operate under their own terms and privacy notices. Links to third-party content are provided for convenience and do not make Brake Your Limit responsible for that service or its content.
Responsibility and liability.
These terms set fair boundaries; they do not exclude rights the law protects.
Brake Your Limit will provide services with reasonable care and skill where that obligation applies. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Brake Your Limit is not responsible for decisions made by members, reliance on another member’s contribution, losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or failures outside its reasonable control.
Nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or another liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
Changes, law and contact.
The current version and effective date will remain visible.
Brake Your Limit may update these terms when the service, risks or legal requirements change. Material changes will be highlighted or brought to members’ attention where appropriate.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts with mandatory jurisdiction over a consumer dispute retain that jurisdiction; otherwise, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
Questions about these terms or permitted use can be sent to hello@brakeyourlimit.com. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@brakeyourlimit.com.
